Chapter
15
In this chapter we will examine the four levels that exist
in nature:
1.
The inanimate
2.
Vegetative
3.
Animate
4.
Human
We are familiar with these
when we examine life on earth through the five senses. But because reality is
constructed in the form of rudent branch, because there is a causal level, a
force that is hidden from our five senses, what we are able to see and sense is
only the result of that force. So these four levels of existence we observe
here are branches of four levels off this hidden upper force. We see them but
do we really understand anything about them.
Lets take a look at them for a moment. In the physical
world (see drawing) these four parts of reality are distributed in terms of
their quantity in a Pyramid. At the bottom of this pyramid is the greatest
quantity known as the still level.
Now
what we are really measuring here according to the Kabbalist is not simply a accumulation
of matter, but a particular eminence on the root level that manifest itself on
the branch level in a way that we can understand it.
The quality that we are looking at is
the will to received. This is the only thing that exists in the physical world;
everything that we see here is an expression of that. That is why on the still
level, we see all the hard matter in the universe, all the: rocks, planets ect.
They make up the greatest numbers, because the still only possess the smallest
amount of the will to receive. Therefore it has very little will or ability to
change. It takes a tremendous amount of force to get it to change in any
directions.
Above
the still level is the vegetative level, all of the organic plant matter. Now
this level of the will to received is so-much greater than the still level,
dimensionally, that a single flower incorporates more will to received than all
of the still level.
Because it has this extra dimension of
the desire to received, it also have the ability to grow. It can make a determination between what is
good for it and what is bad, and it grows in a particular way toward the Sun
the goal. This is a very simple form of life.
Above
that we have the animate level, on this level anyone animal has the will to
received, combining that of the Still and the Vegetative level combine. Because
of that it develops its own individuality. It’s seek out it’s good and chooses
between good and bad for its well being on an individual basis.
Above
that we have the Human level, this level incorporate more will to receive than
all of the levels below it. On this level we have mind and heart, and these
elements allow us to experience unlike an animal who only see the present, but
to be able to plan for the future. This level uses the mind and the heart to
compensate for those things that we desire. This expand our will to received to
a tremendous level.
We see at this level that it
incorporate all level below it and it effect all level below it. The inner life
on the human level, is what every thing in the universe is created for. When
the human will to received develops to its maximum, it reaches a level what we
called speaking, or a Kabbalist.
Now
a totally different order appears at this point. These very same four levels
are then brought into the spiritual realm. In here we see them lay out in a
slightly different order. Because we are not just dealing with the quantity off
one quality, but with a comparison quantity against quality.
At
this level of development the still level is called palaces; the vegetate is
called robes; the animate is called angels and the speaking level is call
souls.
They
are made up of a ratio of two qualities; the will to receive and the will to
bestow. In other words once a person reaches this spiritual level, they
experience a process by which the will to bestow become greater and greater, as
the individual experience each day of Creation. Above that is another level of
bestowal, which is called the CREATOR.
A
person on the still level is something that does not have an spiritual
authority on its own. Rather, it is under the authority of its landlord and
must satisfy every wish and desire of its landlord. We are speaking here of the
upper inner life. The inanimate spiritual life has no freedom or power over its
self. Just as the physical level of the still has no freedom.
Freedom
and spiritual life begins with self-control. A person who cannot control his
desire is regarded as spiritual inanimate. A person who strives for the CREATOR
will eventually come to a state where he clearly see that he has no power over
his or her nature, and this makes him ask the CREATOR for strength or authority
to control his egoism, for his ego is what really what control his nature.
He
ask the Holy Spirit to give him power and authority, not just for him to do
anything he want, but he want to submit all his desires to the CREATORS will.
By doing that he actually is expressing his free will, and at the same time
controlling his ego. What he want is for CREATORS Quality to rule over him, but
the CREATOR already rule over him, but still the person aspire to achieve this
state of spiritual maturity by his own free will.
He
himself want to know, he want to understand and enjoy CREATORS power over him.
He also want to adapt all his thought and desire to the CREATOR, the way an
horse adapt to the rider.
The
inanimate state at the spiritual level, the person cant yet agree with all the
action the CREATOR is going to perform with him, but he has reach a stage where
he already fee the need in himself to fulfilled the CREATORS Desires.
When
the CREATOR created the creation for HIS Glory, as it is written, everyone that
is called by MY Name and whom I have created for MY Glory, it means that HE
Created Creation for HIS Own Needs.
The
nature of the Landlord is imprinted in the creatures, meaning all the Creatures
cannot work for another, but for themselves. So since the CREATOR Created all
Creatures for HIS sake, HIS Nature is imprinted in us. This means that each
Created being does everything for its own sake, everything that has being
created is only meant for a single purpose. That purpose is to submit all or
desire to the Ultimate and most Satisfying one.
That
is why we see this scale of satisfying desires in the various days of creation.
When man begins to feel and understand this and when he knows that the MASTERS
Property is totally different from his own and there is nothing he can do about
it.
In
the vegetative level is that which already has its own authority to some
extent. It can do something that is contrary to the opinion of the Landlord,
meaning it can already do things not for itself but to bestow. This is already
the opposite of what exists in the will of the Landlord, which He had imprinted
in the lower ones to work only with the will to receive for themselves. Yet as
we can see in corporal flora, even though they are mobile and expand in width
and length, still, all the plant have a single property.
In
other words, there is not a single plant that can go against the method of all
the plants but they must adhere to the rules of the flora and are incapable of
doing anything against the mind of their contemporaries.

Therefore
man have no life of their own, but are parts of the life of all floras, meaning
all the plants have a single form of life for all the other plants. All the
plants are like a single creature and the plants are specific organs of that
Creature. All plants exist the same way as if they are all part of the same
plant. They grow at the same seasons, flower at the same season and produce
fruit at the same season, even withered and shed their leaves at the same time.
The weathered and grow regardless of their will.
Similarly,
in spirituality there are people that have already acquired the force to
overcome their will to receive to some degree, but are confined to the environment.
They cannot do the opposite the environment they live in, yet they do the
opposite of what their will to receive wants. This means that they already work
with the will to bestow.
It
is the same in the spiritual; those who have very little power to overcome the
will to receive completely are enslaved by their society. They cannot
understand their influence and they cannot work outside of it, but in their
attempt to oppose their will to receive their will internally, meaning they are
already at work with their desire to bestow, these people are free inside, but
they are still completely dependent on their society, just like the vegetative
level of the plant world.
The
vegetative level contains some level of an independent desire, it can defy the
masters will, which is the dictate of the will to received, the domination of
the ego. This find of a person can work to a certain degree against what the
ego desires, because they have acquired a tool, an inner force to resist his
desires at this level of development.
The
way one oppose the desire, his own nature, is to disagree with his own inner
qualities, by influence it with an opposite attitude. AT the vegetative level a
person can give instead of just doing thing for their own selfish desire. This
is what contradicts the will of the master. This will to receive was given to
us at birth. The CREATOR purposely gave this desire to us, because HE want to
give us the will to bestow. However, in-order to appreciate the will to Bestow,
we must first experience the will to receive.
Even-though
we are immerse in egotistical desire, in the same time we are included in the
CREATOR’S original desire. Conversely, when we acquire ultraistic desire we
will still be in the CREATOR ultimate will, because there is nothing beside the
CREATOR.
HIS
power over us is what we called there is none else beside HIM. However, a
person can choose which power, which influence He will submit too. Which aspect
of the CREATOR he is going to submit too. Why then do we not feel these two desires
equally? In the Higher Reality when we re-enter the spiritual world, and we
start to descend, we descend between these two choices, whether under the
influence of Egoism or altruism.
At
that point there they are perceived as equal. This spiritual state is perceived
as klipot noga, which is between
bestowal and reception. Sometime we operate in one or the other. That is really
what man is like.
What
man need to do is to place himself in a neutral position between bestowal and
reception. When we reach that state of neutrality, then we will become free to
make his or her own decision. That is what the Kabbalist called freedom.
In
the Animate state, is see that each animal has its own characteristic. They are
not confine to any particular environment, but each of them, has its own sensation and characteristic.
They can certainly operate outside of the influence of the Landlord, meaning
that they can work in bestowal and are also not conformed to the environment, but
their own life. Their vitality does not depends on their friends life. Every
animate creature, is special in it’s own way,
it is not enslave by his environment, it has it’s own properties. And
it’s own feelings.
In
the physical world we see that every animal can operate freely and independently
of the other. But they still submit to the laws that are common to their
species. That is why we see a lot of species breed and hibernate at the same
time.
Likewise,
in the spiritual, everyone on the animate level has its own sensation and
properties unique to them. They are not enslaved by society anymore. He or she
has a greater will to operate against the MASTER Will, and go against the Will
to receive than the vegetative level. He can create his or her own environment.
He somewhat need his natural egotistic society, but he is not complete
dependent on it.
Yet,
they cannot feel more than their own being, in other words they have no
sensation of the other, and naturally cannot care for the other. So the animate
level has a high degree of independence, but it lack one important quality. It
only has the ability to sense itself. That what it means in the present,
because it does not concern its self with others, The higher state the speaking
level is the interconnected state.
The
Speaking level has virtues, 1. it act against the will of the Landlord, 2. It
is not confined to its contemporizes like the vegetative, meaning it is
independent from society. 3. It also feel the other, therefore can care for
them, and complement by feeling and regretting with the collective.
It
can also rejoice in the solace of the collective, and receive from the past,
present and the future. Animal however only feel the present and only their own
beings. In other-word he can complete be defy the master will. He can bestow
rater than received. Un-like plants he does not depend on other people, in
other-words he does not depend on his environment to satisfy his need.
He
also feel others, so he can take care of them, and satisfy there needs, and
that is what bestowal is. He has the capability to pretty much what the CREATOR
does, and his relationship to his society is that of an adult. He can create a
society and within that society, he can act complete against the master, and
create a society that is completely ultraistic.
As
he begin to nullify his egotistic properties he find himself in an increasing
connect with the society, by choice, and he discover that there is a true
equality between him and the whole, and this is the area of absolute love, when
man become equal to the CREATOR, He can share the suffering of society which
means that he acquire there desires, there empty vessels. He also share there
joys, which means that now, he can fill their lives with the light that is
within himself. So that all of society can experience it.
By
accomplishing this man rises to the root of his soul and he includes all other
souls, and in the likeness of the collective soul Adam he corrects all of them.
The others does not feel this corrections yet, but the person at this level
correct, correct the part of him that is in all of them. By attaching them to
himself as the corrected part of himself, he can reach his individual final
correction.
And
now, he can receive both from the past and the future, where as the animate
level of spirituality, can only feel itself in the present
